What to Wear/Bring to Turkey.
What to Bring in Turkey…
A type C outlet plug. You will need this if you are from the US and want to charge any of your devices. I got mine from amazon and it was only $20 for 2. they worked great. If you wait to buy them in Turkey you can but they are more expensive.
I recommend some type of bag that allows you to keep your money and passport in front of you. There are multiple on amazon. Use this in the airport is also a game changer!
Bring cash and then convert it in the airport. Currently the Turkish Lira is worth a lot less than the American dollar. ($1=19 lira) But not every place takes cards so bring some cash. We took $500 and it was more than plenty so a couple $100 will be more than sufficient.
What to wear…
Istanbul is very modern and you can pretty much wear whatever you want but different parts of Turkey are more modest in the way they dress. So just keep that in mind when shopping for your trip. You will see a wide arrange of people cover head to toe, others with just their hair covered.
I was in Turkey during the Spring time months. It was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 40-50s at night.
During the day while traveling through Istanbul I wore long maxi dresses as above but brought a coat.
I also wore jeans and long sleeve shirt one day but I did get hot.
At night time the temperature does drop and it would be chilling. So jeans or some type of pant and a light jacket is needed.
Comfortable shoes are a must! What I wore pretty much the whole trip were Keen sandals. They’re alittle expensive but I think worth the purchase.
